Check the lost and found classified
ads in all of your local newspapers for a lost
ad about the pet.
Call Petfinders at 800-666-5678, and we
will do a computer search to determine if the pet has been
reported lost to us within 60 miles of where you found it.
Check our online listing as
well.
If the pet is wearing a tag, call the appropriate
agencies. For example, if the pet is wearing a tag with
a shelter phone number, call that shelter.
Next, call the local animal shelter. You
can get the number from the yellow pages under animal shelters,
the municipal section of the white pages, or by calling
your town or city hall. Give the shelter a full description
of the pet.
Then, prepare a flyer giving only a physical description
of the pet and distribute copies widely on bulletin
boards in your neighborhood.

As you travel, look
for community bulletin boards in shopping centers,
libraries, churches, synagogues, or anywhere else that you
can post a notice of general interest. Also put flyers on
the streets at busy intersections (you may want to check the
legality of posting on public property first). As you distribute
the posters, remember to look for the flyer that the owner
may have posted. |
